The reason why the bread is shaped like a crescent is because that was the symbol of the Ottoman Empire. Croissants got their fame in France and they are commonly served for breakfast in European countries. Crunchy and delicious, there are lots of ways to modify this pastry, for example by adding sausages or chocolate.

Danish
This pastry is unique because it has a layer of fat in its dough. The fatter the dough, the more layers the Danish pastry will have. This pastry is commonly found in Denmark and other Scandinavian countries. It was first created when Danish workers, including bakers, went on a general strike during the 1850’s. The country sent for bakers from Vienna, Austria who brought their bread recipes with them. The bakers from Vienna modified their recipes by adding eggs to better suit local palates, inventing what became known as Viennese bread in Denmark and as Danish pastries in the rest of the world.

Baguettes
Indonesian people call the baguette “stick bread” because of its long and oval shape. This French bread has a unique shape because in the country there was a rule that forbad bakers from working before 4 a.m. A long shape makes it easier and faster to make and bake, so it can be served for breakfast.

Marble Cake
This cake is basically a pound cake that has some chocolate added to its batter and mixed in a certain way to create a marbled pattern. It is said that the recipe came from Germany, carried by immigrants to North America. The original dough was filled with layers of spices, but since the people of the United States prefer chocolate, the layer was modified with chocolate.
